Description
The tour begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 a.m. heading to the village of Mollepata, known for its temperate climate and hospitality. You will have free time to enjoy breakfast (not included) in this charming Andean town.
Next, you will continue by vehicle to Cruz Pata, where the trek begins. The hike lasts two to three hours until reaching Sayllapata, where lunch will be provided. After a short rest, the trail continues to Soraypampa, located at 3,850 meters above sea level, where the first camp is set up. On this section, you can see the snow-capped Humantay Mountain and its turquoise lake, ideal settings for photography.
On the second day, after breakfast, you will hike for approximately four hours to reach Salkantay Pass, the highest point of the trek at 4,540 meters. From this vantage point, you will enjoy exceptional panoramic views of the Andes and traditional apachetas. After an hour's descent to lunch, the trek continues for about three hours to Chaullay, the second campsite, where dinner and overnight accommodation await.
On the third day, after breakfast, you will depart towards Colcapampa, trekking through lush forest trails abundant in vegetation and local biodiversity, arriving at Sahuayaco ("La Playa"). From there, you will take local transport to the train station at Hidroeléctrica. You can choose to take the train to Aguas Calientes (not included) or continue on foot for approximately three hours along the railway to your accommodation. A local restaurant dinner follows.
Finally, on the fourth day, you will have an early breakfast and bus transfer to Machu Picchu for approximately a two-hour guided tour of the main archaeological ruins, with free time afterward for individual exploration and photography. An optional tour of Huayna Picchu is also available (not included).
The tour concludes with a train ride back to Ollantaytambo and overland transport to Cusco, where you will receive assistance with transfer to your hotel for rest and relaxation.
