🏨 Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Inkaterra Amazon Reserve – Trail System and Night River Start
Upon arriving at Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Peruvian Amazon, you will be greeted by our staff and transferred to the embarkation dock. You will sail for 45 minutes by boat along the Madre de Dios River until reaching the exclusive Inkaterra Amazon Reserve Eco Lodge, a sustainable lodge surrounded by the jungle. After the welcome lunch, you will have time to rest before starting your first excursion: a guided walk through the Trail System, where you will meet imposing trees like the shihuahuaco and strangler fig. At night, you will experience the Night River, a boat tour that allows you to observe the transition from diurnal to nocturnal fauna. You can spot potoos, owls, capybaras and caimans under the starry sky of Madre de Dios. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
🏞️ Day 2: Lake Sandoval – Inkaterra Canopy Walkway – Eco Center and Happy Hour Exploration
After a delicious buffet breakfast, you will visit Lake Sandoval, located within the Tambopata National Reserve. On board a traditional canoe, you will explore this body of water surrounded by palm trees, habitat of endangered species such as the giant river otter, red howler monkeys, macaws and anacondas. Back at the lodge and after lunch, you will climb the famous Inkaterra Canopy Walkway, a system of suspension bridges at 29 meters high connecting eight observation platforms. From there you will enjoy privileged views of the Amazon and can observe toucans, trogons, monkeys and sloths. At dusk, enjoy the Happy Hour and naturalist presentation at the Eco Center, where you will learn more about Amazonian biodiversity. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
🌿 Day 3: Gamitana Stream – Hacienda Concepción – Nocturnal Forest Adventure
Today you will sail to Gamitana Stream, a winding stream home to piranhas, caimans, turtles and tropical birds. After a boat tour and guided walk, you will visit the Gamitana Model Farm, where you will learn about local agricultural practices and the cultivation of Amazonian fruits and vegetables. In the afternoon, you will explore Hacienda Concepción, a space where more than 200 plant species grow, with explanations about their medicinal and traditional uses. You will also take a 30-minute canoe ride to observe aquatic birds and turtles. Finally, as night falls, you will participate in the Nocturnal Forest excursion, walking through the secondary forest trails to listen to nocturnal sounds and observe species that only emerge in the dark. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
🦋 Day 4: Butterfly House – Return to Puerto Maldonado Final
After breakfast, you will board the boat back to Puerto Maldonado. Before your flight to Cusco or Lima, you will visit the Butterfly House, a conservation center where you can observe some of the more than 3700 butterfly species that exist in Peru. With this final visit, your experience in the Inkaterra Amazon Reserve 4D/3N tour ends, a unique immersion in the Madre de Dios jungle.
