TOUR CUSCO HUCHUY QOSQO

Cusco  Huchuy Qosqo is located to 5 km from the Calca district in the department of Cusco. The route to Huchuy Qosqo is very beautiful. Therefore, walking its trails will allow us to visit some Yina communities, archaeological centers and enjoy beautiful landscapes
The enclosure located in Huchuy Qosqo is called Qaqyaqawana because it refers to the place where the lightning is seen. In addition, the structures of the enclosure are distributed in such a way that they architecturally resemble the city of Cusco; It is for this reason that at the beginning of the 20th century it was called Huchuy Qosqo. The centuries-old walls built of this material still defy the strong inclement weather in the area, seismic movements and of course the passage of time.

MEANING OF HUCHUY QOSQO

Huchuy Qosqo means “Little Cusco”, it is also settled in the upper third of the mountain called Qaqya (thunder). Likewise, it exhibits one of the most impressive works of topographic modification through the use of terraces. Modulating the edges of precipices and vertical ravines on the Vilcanota Valley, culminating in platforms that were used as ceremonial esplanades. Around which several architectural structures made of stone and adobe can still be found standing. Materials used and worked with great criteria, and thus, achieving a fine finish.

AWANAKANCHA

Awanakancha, is a traditional weaving center. Here you can see four members of the South American camelid family, such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. In addition, we will meet these four camelids and learn about obtaining wool. Also, we will see the native weavers of the different areas showing their different styles of weaving and clothing.

FULL DAY: CUSCO – HUCHUY QOSQO – CUSCO

This excursion will take us approximately 8 hours of walking (including breaks, refreshment, and a visit to the Archaeological Complex), touring ecological floors like Quechua, Suni, and Puna, with their characteristic flora and fauna.

We will leave the city of Cusco, early in the morning, taking the road north towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way to the village of Chinchero, we will be able to appreciate the extensive fields of cultivation, used since ancient times. We will walk along with one of the banks of the Piuray Lagoon where you will observe migratory birds and a flora until the community of Tauca (3,762 masl / 12,343 ft.) where our trek begins.

We will take a dirt road into disuse of a gentle slope to “Abra de Pucajasa” (4,393 masl / 14,413 ft.); where we will have a spectacular view of the Andes Mountain Range and the Urubamba Mountain Range. This “Abra” has a distance of approximately 200 meters.

It began to descend and we will find parts of the Inca trail. as well, We can also appreciate the radical changes between the ecological floors of the Cusco region. We will arrive at Huchuy Qosqo (3,688 masl / 12,099 feet), where we will enjoy our refreshment.

After a short break, we will start the visit to the archaeological complex and then descend to the village of Lamay (2,938 masl / 9,639 feet) where we will take our transportation back to the city of Cusco.

FULL DAY: CUSCO – HUCHUY QOSQO – CUSCO

• Pick-up from the hotel and transfer to Chinchero where you will appreciate the Archaeological Complex of Chinchero and a living height of the Andean textile and then we will arrive at the Community of Tauca where you will appreciate the Lagoon of Piuray and its friendly inhabitants. All of this will last 1 hour.
• In the Tauca Community, we will begin our walk until reaching the first “Abra de Pucajasa” (4,100 masl) for 10 minutes
• Then, we will descend in approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes to the Archaeological Complex of Huchuy Qosqo.
• Visit the Archaeological Complex for two hours of visit.
• Then, we will continue our walk of descent with a spectacular view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas to the district of Lamay for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
• After Lamay, return to the city of Cusco in our transport for 45 minutes.
