QORICANCHA
Built in the middle of the 15th century during the reign of the Inca Túpac Yupanqui, the Temple of the Sun, as it is also known, was the religious, geographical, and political center of the Inca culture, this was a sacred space where the god Inti ( Sun). The Incas could enter the Coricancha only if they were barefoot, fasting, and with a load on their back as a sign of humility.
During the Inca empire, the building was double what it is now. Its front, decorated by a fine sheet of pure gold three meters high, was majestic. The interior of the Coricancha Temple also had some enclosures covered in gold and silver sheets, while others exhibited finely carved stones, and as is customary in the Inca culture, joined together without any type of amalgam.
PISAQ
The Archaeological Park of Pisaq (or Pisac) is a group of Inca buildings (a fortified city) that is located in the district of Pisaq and at a height of 2 972 meters above sea level and settled on a mountain, but it believes that its strategic location provided greater security to the building as well as being in a control zone. The place also protected it, due to the height, from possible attacks by the Anti people, with whom they were in constant enmity.
It is said that the architectural complex that makes up Pisac would have been built during the 10th and 11th centuries of our era, in the period of the Inca expansion, and would have had urban and religious purposes. Thus, the name Pisaq or Pisac does not have a defined translation, although there are people who believe that it could be derived from the Quechua word pisaqa, in relation to a bird, whose shape would also have tried to be represented in the design of the territory.
OLLANTAYTAMBO
The archaeological site of Ollantaytambo has various constructions such as the Ñusta Bath, the Real Casa del Sol, the Monumental Front, and many others, however, the most popular and impressive buildings in Ollantaytambo are the Temple of the Sun and the beautiful system of terraces and at the top of the mountains that surround Ollantaytambo, you can visit some constructions called ‘Colcas’. These structures served as warehouses for basic products such as corn or potatoes.
MACCHU PICCHU
The most important monument of the historical sanctuary is the llaqta or Inca city of Machupicchu, which was planned and built around 1400 AD. and as such The work demanded the participation of specialists in architecture, engineering, and astronomy, in addition to a large amount of labor. More than 50% of the effort required in its construction was used in the preparation of the land, foundations and drainage system. Its construction responds to the need of the Inka State to have a religious, political, and administrative center within a sacred space considered the nexus between the Andes and the Amazon and that is how today Machupicchu represents a masterpiece of art, architecture, and engineering in perfect harmony with nature and is the most important legacy of the Inka civilization to humanity.
MOUNTAIN OF 7 COLORS
Mountain of the 7 Colors (also called Vinicunca or simply mountain of the ‘rainbow’) is one of the new and best attractions in Peru. Located more than 100 kilometers from the city of Cusco, on an altitude summit located at 5,200 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.)
