CHOQUEQUIRAO AND MACHUPICCHU (8D/7N)
CHOQUEQUIRAO AND MACHUPICCHU, two great Inca constructions, sisters, and similar functions, visit these two wonders and get to know the mysterious roads of the valley of the Andes.
The most challenging and complete hiking route in Cusco, come and travel 115 kilometers of scenic beauty at all times, also observe the Andean condor, orchids, birds, varied flora and fauna, and the different types of climate.
Its name means “Cradle of Gold” and its beauty and grandeur are compared to the wonder of Machupicchu. Getting to Choquequirao is not easy: it takes 4 to 5 days of intense hiking and you have to camp along the way, but the reward is amazing, and when you arrive the feeling is indescribable.

The llaqta of Machupicchu represents a masterpiece of art, architecture, and engineering in perfect harmony with nature and is the most important legacy of the Inka civilization to humanity. OVERVIEW
CHOQUEQUIRAO AND MACHUPICCHU (8D/7N)
DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – PLAYA ROSALINA
- Pick up from your hotel in our minivan in the morning.
- Transfer in our minivan to Cachora.
- Rest in Cachora and encounter with the horse drivers that will accompany us on the trek.
- Start of the trek in Cachora to Capuliyoc.
- Lunch in Capuliyoc.
- We will continue the walk to Rosalina Beach
- Camp at Rosalina Beach (1,550m / 5,115ft).
DAY 02: ROSALINA BEACH – MARANPATA – CHOQUEQUIRAO
- Breakfast before the start of the hike.
- Start of a trek to Maranpata.
- Lunch in Maranpata.
- We will continue the walk to Choquequirao camping
- Arrival at Choquequirao camping where we will camp
- Dinner and overnight in the camp.
DAY 03: CHOQUEQUIRAO – MAIZAL
- Breakfast at Choquequirao camping.
- Guided tour of the Archaeological Complex of Choquequirao.
- Return to the camp.
- Start of the trek to the Archaeological Zone of Pinchi Unuyoj. (2,750m / 9,075ft) here the observation of birds, orchids, and coconut trees.
- We will continue the descent to “Rio Blanco” (1,900m / 6,270ft).
- We will continue to a place called “Maizal” (3,000m / 9,900ft), for camping (3,000m / 9,900ft)
- Dinner and overnight in Maizal.
DAY 04: MAIZAL – YANAMA
- Breakfast in Maizal.
- We will start the walk until San Juan pass.
- Descent to the Victoria mines (where silver was mined).
- Lunch around the Victoria mines.
- Descent to Yanama (3,800m / 12,540ft.) for the camping.
- Dinner and overnight in Yanama.
DAY 05: YANAMA – COLPA PAMPA
- Breakfast at Yanama.
- We will continue with a one-step descent of (4,670m / 15,410ft).
- Lunch in the area called Totora, 3 hours from the Colpa Pampa camp.
- Arrival to Colpa Pampa (3,630m / 11,979ft), where we will camp.
- Dinner and overnight in Colpa Pampa.
DAY 06: COLPA PAMPA – THE BEACH – SANTA TERESA
- Breakfast at 06:00 a.m.
- Start of the walk to the place called “La Playa”.
- Lunch instead of the beach.
- We will continue the hike in the observation tour of (coca plants, coffee, fruit plantations, birds and orchids).
- Then, we will arrive at the town of Santa Teresa where we will camp.
- Dinner and overnight in Santa Teresa.
DAY 07: SANTA TERESA – “AGUAS CALIENTES”
- Breakfast at 06:00 a.m.
- Walkthrough the beautiful Wilcamayu Canyon to Hidroeléctrica.
- Lunch in a hydroelectric area.
- We will continue walking to the town of “Aguas Calientes” for 3 hours by railroad.
- Arrival at” Aguas Calientes” (2,050m) at approx. 05:00 p.m.
- Immediate transfer to your hotel for a refreshing bath.
- Then dinner and overnight in “Aguas Calientes”.
DAY 08: “AGUAS CALIENTES” – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
- Breakfast at 06:00 a.m.
- Pick-up by the guide at your hotel to get on a bus at 07:00 a.m.
- Bus ride for 20 minutes to the entrance to Machu Picchu.
- Entrance to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu.
- Guided tour for 2 hours throughout the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu.
- Free time in Machu Picchu for taking pictures of 2 to 3 hours.
- Return to “Aguas Calientes” for lunch.
- Return by train to Ollantaytambo for 2 hours.
- From Ollantaytambo by car to the city of Cusco.
- Arrival to the city of Cusco.
- Immediate transfer to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

ITINERARY
DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – ROSALINA BEACH
To begin the trek, we will start the pick-up from your hotel in the city of Cusco, in our minivan by the guide. Then, he will transport us to the Andean community of Cachora. In this place, we will meet the horse drivers who will accompany us along the walk. Start of the hike to the place Capuliyoc where we will have lunch, we will also have a breathtaking view of the Apurímac canyon. Then, we will continue the walk to the Rosalina beach (1,550m / 5,115ft) where we will camp in a warm climate where a delicious hot dinner awaits us and then spend the night.
DAY 02: ROSALINA BEACH – CHOQUEQUIRAO
We got up early for breakfast. Then, we will continue the trek to the second Lost City of the Incas Choquequirao, also known as “Cuna de Oro” (the Golden Cradle). We will have lunch at Maranpata (place). From here, we will have a beautiful view of the Archeological Complex of Choquequirao, we will continue the walk to the camping of Choquequirao. Also if we are lucky we will be able to see the sacred bird of the Incas the “Andean Condor” for the sunset, return to the camp we will have a delicious dinner and overnight in the camp.
DAY 03: CHOQUEQUIRAO – MAIZAL
In the morning, we will visit the whole Archaeological Complex of Choquequirao, also known as “Cuna de Oro”. We will enjoy the guided tour for 2 hours, averaging at 10:00 a.m. and we will continue our walk, this day will be the heaviest because all day we will ascend through the area called “Rio Blanco”, in this place, we will have lunch, the campsite is 3 hours after lunch, we will continue the walk to the camp in the area of Maizal.
DAY 04: MAIZAL – YANAMA
We will have breakfast, then, we will start the ascension for a period of 3 hours, passing the San Juan pass. Then, we will descend to the mines of Victoria (where the silver was exploited), here we will have lunch. Then, we will continue the descent to where we will camp in Yanama (3,800m / 12,540ft). We will also have dinner and overnight.
DAY 05: YANAMA – COLPA PAMPA
After breakfast, we will start the descent walk to the Yanama pass (4,670m), if we are lucky we can see condors flying, during the tour we can enjoy a beautiful view of the snow-capped mountain of Salkantay (6,264m) and Pintuyu (5,450m). Lunch at the place called “Totora” at 3 hours before arriving at the Colpa Pampa camp, we will continue the hike to Colpa Pampa where we will camp, a place where we will have dinner and spend the night.
DAY 06: COLPA PAMPA – THE BEACH – SANTA TERESA
Early breakfast. Then, we will start the walk to the place called “La Playa” (the Beach) where we will have lunch, on the way we can appreciate fruit trees, coffee plantations, coca trees and a variety of granadilla. After lunch, we will continue the walk to the town of Santa Teresa where we will camp. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 07: SANTA TERESA – “AGUAS CALIENTES”
We will have breakfast to continue the trek through the Wilcamayu Canyon with a warm climate to a place called Hydroelectric where we will have lunch, a short break to continue the trek by rail for 3 hours to the town of “Aguas Calientes”. Arrive at “Aguas Calientes” to settle in your reserved hotel where you will have a cool bath, also dinner, and overnight.
DAY 08: “AGUAS CALIENTES” – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO
After breakfast, our guide will pick you up at your hotel. Then, you will climb by bus to the entrance to Machu Picchu for 20 minutes, enter the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, guided tour for 2 hours, and then have free time to take pictures. Then, we will return by bus to “Aguas Calientes”, continue the train trip to Ollantaytambo, from here by car to the city of Cusco. Arrive near the Main Square of Cusco of your hotel.
